Ablenet 12000028 Learning Board QWERTY Color Coded Vowels USB Keyboard

I bought this keyboard because I finally want to learn proper keyboarding skills. The photo in every ad shows the color-coordinated consonants, vowels, numbers, etc. However, the picture seems to only show the product with normal-sized letters on the keys. I had considered getting the 1" keys which had large letters. I really need the full 102-key functions, so I chose the LearningBoard instead of the KinderBoard. Much to my delight, the product arrived at FedEx with the large letters that I had preferred. The reasonable price and free shipping to a close FedEx office could not have been any better! It arrived there a day earlier than projected. This was the best online purchase I've ever made. Thank you!

I purchased this mainly b/c we needed a USB keyboard. We were setting up an old laptop for the kids (ages 6.5 yrs & just turned 4 yrs). There was no PS2 port for the older type keyboards that we had lying around the attic and I didn't want the kids using the awkward small keyboard on the actual laptop. I had seen this a while ago when I was searching around for a one-button mouse for the younger one (at the time 3 yrs) made by the same manufacturer, but at the time we did not need a keyboard, only a mouse. However, I wasn't sure if I wanted to purchase it b/c I had remembered the price being higher than many other keyboards. When I googled this keyboard, I found it cheaper on Walmart.com. I paid $27 including tax and free ship to store at Walmart.com. Upon searching the manufacturer's website and several other websites (including educational discount sites), Walmart.com beat everyone else's price by far! The kids love it b/c it's so colorful & I love it b/c I'm hoping they will start to learn where the keys are by the color of the keys. The consonants are green; the vowels are purple; the numbers are red; the punctuation & math keys are yellow and all the rest of the keys are blue. I can now tell my six year old that the "A" is a "purple key since it is a vowel" and she can find it faster. I also like that it is a standard keyboard both in size and key placement. There are too many kids' keyboards that are way too over-sized and/or the keys are in a different placement from a standard keyboard... then the children would need to re-learn the placement of keys when switching to an "adult" keyboard or when they use a normal one at school. This one suits my 6 yr old and my 4 yr old at the same time... had I purchased one with the over-sized keys, my 6.5 yr old would soon think it was "babyish" in only a year or two. I think she will be able to hang on to this one much longer than that. Overall a great purchase at a great price. We've also had no issues of any problems with the keyboard.
