If you're looking at a 29" suitcase, you're probably trying to pack something large or pack for a long trip.
That said, you're going to be tipping the scales at the airport.
The manufacturer knows this and they created a lightweight product in order to accommodate you.
You want a large enough suitcase to bring big items or many items, it needs to be both big enough and light enough that you don't go over the airline's weight limits.
The lighter the material, the more likely it's going to break. Especially when it's filled with 40 Lbs of stuff.
Believe me, the airlines aren't going to treat it well (no matter what brand it is).
Unless you are willing to spend $500 - $1,500 on some space-age material that's super-light yet ultra durable, you better plan on spending $79 every 7-15 trips (14-30 flights).
There's not too many cases out there that can support 50 Lbs and withstand a beating.
I have one of these for my personal use and it's great. I don't fill it up too much and it doesn't even seem to get scuffed.
On the other hand, we have two of them with custom padding on the insides. They each carry one 23” iMac and one Macbook Pro. They tip the scales at just under 50 Lbs. We take these to trade shows all the time. It's much cheaper than renting equipment or shipping across the country. Each person attending the show is responsible for one bag.
Since these are heavy, they get beaten up to say the least. No big deal, the computers on the inside don't even have a scratch.
I'm happy to shell out $79 bucks for a new shell every 10 trips (20 flights).
