Mel Gibson's Apocalypto (DVD)

If you have preconceived opinions regarding Mel Gibson, and therefore hate everything he touches without taking the time to view it, then you are cheating yourself. Love him or hate him, Mel Gibson is an ARTIST. His vision is unique, and it is beautifully and originally displayed in this fantastic piece of cinema. The story may not be completely original, but I guarantee this film is like nothing you have seen before. It grabs you and pulls you in from the first frame and refuses to let go. I would go so far as to say there is not another director out there who is capable of telling a story in the manner that Mel Gibson does; and that's a good thing. I think this is a movie that everyone should see, though I realize that there are people who are incapable of viewing any graphic or realistic violence, and this movie is not for them. But don't let this turn you away, the movie is nowhere near as violent as Gibson-hating critics have claimed it to be. Gorgeous cinematography and edge-of-your-seat action, this movie is A DEFINITE MUST-SEE!! Had this movie been credited to any other director in the biz, it would have not only been nominated but certainly would have won numerous Oscars...

I just watched this one last night and am looking to buy it. It was excellent. Subtitles aren't my thing, but within seconds of the beginning, I couldn't turn away. This is a movie that stays with you.
