Jarrow Formulas (R) Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) may help improve vitamin D status better than equivalent amounts of ergocalciferol (D 2 ). D 3 is also the form produced by skin with UVB exposure (sunlight). Vitamin D 3 is converted to its hormonally-active form, calcitriol, in the body as needed. Calcitriol enhances dietary calcium and phosphorous absorption, supports the production of osteocalcin (an important structural protein in bone), and supports a healthy immune response.

The best and gentlest D3 out there
I am a cancer survivor who was vitamin D3 deficient. I have been taking this brand of vitamin D3 capsule for years now. I lowered my dose to this 2500 IU (same brand just different dose)after my results came back high-normal range from a blood test. This is an excellent maintenance vitamin to keep your levels up. Much kinder to your system than the RX version. I wish they sold it in the store. But Swanson is really fast at shipping. I highly recommend!
