Perfect Old School BBQ Sauce

I strayed and tried a couple different BBQ sauces. 1. Bull's Eye. 2. Blues BBQ Sorry I did. Bull's Eye is a glorified spin on Kraft. Blues is thin and watery. Terrible for basting/mopping on. So back to Gates. Never disappoints, correct thickness, spice level is perfect for me. The ratio of vinegar is correct, not too sweet, I pick up on the celery seed in it. I find the heat level to be minimal. Not a set your mouth on fire. My %231 go to BBQ.

I am Kansas City born and raised and this is the sauce I remember from my childhood back in the 60s. It is not meant to be a sweet tasting sauce. It has tasted the same and I don't think the recipe has changed for over 60 years. My favorite sauce from my favorite barbecue in KC.
