Sad, gruesome, romantic

After falling in love with the movie, I rushed to read the book. It's a wonderful book which adds a lot of context as well as additional character development. But be warned, though, there are a number of differences, some of which *might* be disturbing to some readers. The true nature of Håkan (Eli's caretaker) as well as his final fate is probably the biggest difference from the movie. Eli "herself" is another one, but it is hinted at in the movie. The writing is awkward at times, but I believe this can be attributed to the translation from Swedish. One thing which really pulled me in was John Ajvide Lindqvist's ability to be inside a twelve year old's head. A good example is when Oskar visits his father. The book isn't perfect by any stretch, but I'd highly recommend it, especially if you liked the movie and want to learn more about Oskar and Eli.

Best movie out there

I had to have the book after seeing this movie. So far i have not seen the movie on the shelves or as a rental. Best movie i have seen in a long time. I have already watched it 3 times which is something for me. If you get the chance check it out. Give it a 10.

Fantastic Read

I loved this book. I have seen the Swedish film with sub-titles and had to get this book to "fill in the gaps." Lots more in the book than in the film, of course. Now, I see that there is an Americanized version coming out on Oct. 1st. This is a must read for any horror fan.
