Polar Bears
The polar bear is known for being a strong, intelligent and patient hunter. These ferocious mammals top the food chain in the Arctic, where they dine primarily on seals. Polar bears have a strong sense of smell and sight. They are able to smell a seal on the ice 20 miles away and are able to spot a potential meal 15 feet underwater. Polar bears are built to stay warm in a cold habitat. If they get too warm, they often cool off in the chilly water and roll in the snow. For most of their day, they are resting for up to 20 hours before they go back out to hunt. Even with the long, harsh winters, polar bears do not hibernate and continue hunting throughout the winter.
