Key item features

Renowned period-instrument violinist Giuliano Carmignola makes his first Mozart recording, and internationally acclaimed maestro Claudio Abbado records Mozart for the first time on period instruments!

Abbado and Carmignola are long-standing collaborators and have performed Mozart together for some time; the album was born out of their feelings that it was time to commit their interpretations to disc.

In addition to the five violin concertos, Carmignola teams with violist Danusha Waskiewicz on another audience favorite, the Sinfonia concertante.

One of five releases celebrating Claudio Abbado's 75th birthday, this attractively priced two-disc set promises to be one of the most important Mozart recordings of the year.

"Stop fiddlin' around and shop Wal*Mart"

I had experienced a difficult time finding this specific CD set of all 5 Mozart violin concertos by Giuliano Carmignola & Claudio Abbado from several websites. Then low and behold it was available through Wal*Mart. This CD set made a great Christmas gift for my wife. She had heard it on our local classical TPR station and fell in love with concerti #3's 3rd movement. This was also a pleasant surprise to me having several recordings of these concertos in my collection. Should I have problems finding a particular recording in the future I will look to Wal*Mart's website.
