This part fits a 1997 Chevy Malibu 3.1 L auto. You do NOT need to drop the engine....just remove the negative cable from the battery...take off passenger side front wheel and lift that side of car...add jacks for safety then remove the two wheel well splash guards. Remove belt by moving tensioner...removed bolt with air wrench, Pull old harmonic off with puller (free rental). Block engine from rotating (I used a belt wrench, add new harmonic using a different harmonic installer(free rental). Reinstall all,lower car and drive. The price of this part is low and Dorman makes good replacement parts. I did not need to use the new woodruff key. BE SAFE.
