The supplied magnet attached to my phone, the adaptor which comes with the kit adapter snuggly fit on the air vent slat. My dashboard is not magnetic, so the adopter worked perfectly just fine holding my phone in place. I can read maps instead of holding the phone by hand. My radio syncs to my phone allowing me to hear google map directions through the car speakers. It is exactly what I needed and fit the bill for travel.
