PURCHASED: Seiko SRPE Diver Watch
CONS: 1 - Seller, JS Time Inc, is not a Seiko Authorized Dealer. 2 - You will receive NO WARRANTY with this watch, since seller is not an Authorized Dealer. 3 - Seller will not fill out warranty card. 4 - When contacted, Seller’s sole remedy for any issue or question is to return the watch. 5 - It is not apparent from the website that you are not purchasing this watch from Walmart. 6 - Because the watch is from a third-party seller, Walmart absolves themselves from any responsibility. There is no recourse to Walmart if you have an issue.
PROS: 1. The watch I received appears to be a genuine Seiko in new condition. 2. – Price was best available. 3 – Watch dial and case back notes “Made in Japan”, rather than “Mov’t Japan” (which is not manufactured or assembled in Japan). Of the various manufacturing iterations for this watch, the former is the better. 4 - Shipping was fast enough, and arrives via UPS with tracking. 5 – Although not helpful (see above), the Seller does respond to messages left via Walmart portal.
SUMMARY: Pay your money, take your chances. A genuine Seiko (particularly the “Made in Japan” iteration) should operate well beyond the warranty period without needing service. If a warranty is important to you, pay $60 more and buy this watch from an Authorized Dealer, like Macy’s.
