About VGA Splitters
How can I choose which VGA splitter to use?
If you simply want to clone your display image into two or more monitors, a VGA-to-VGA or Y-splitter does the job well. For a better image quality, choose a high-resolution splitter with a built-in video amplifier. If you need to split a video signal to a monitor with no VGA port, check the other monitor's video ports and look for a compatible splitter, such as a DVI- or HDMI-to-VGA splitter.
Do I need a splitter with a long cable?
The length of the cable depends on the location and position of the monitors. A typical side-by-side connection can be done using a 1-foot VGA splitter. You may want to get an extra-long VGA splitter if you have to duplicate the signal to a monitor across the room.
Does video quality improve if I use a VGA-to-DVI cable to connect my monitor to a CPU?
If your monitor only has a VGA port, connect it to the DVI port of a graphics card, which can then send the digital signal to your output screen. You can also use a VGA-to-DVI converter to create a digital representation of the VGA's analog signal before it reaches your monitor.
