Do you need to buy a specific type of stylus pen for each device, or can you get universal stylus pens that work across device types?

Some devices come with stylus pens that pair with the device, while there are universal stylus pens available as well. The stylus pens that pair with a specific device and store within the device, can typically only be used with that one type of device. Universal stylus pens can typically be used with any touchscreen device. Devices respond to styluses similarly to the way they respond to the touch of your fingertip.

Do stylus pens actually write, or are they just used for operating devices?

Stylus pens typically can be used to write on paper in addition to controlling devices. Stylus pens that pair with specific devices, however, do not always contain ink and are sometimes made only for the purpose of controlling the device.

Stylus pens that require power to pair with devices typically take up to an hour to be fully charged and can usually hold a charge for up to ten hours.
