The tag states UPF 30+ Solar Factor (tm) UV protection

I recently bought one and if I recall correctly, the tag labeled it at an SPF of "30+" or similar. But as far as SPF ratings go - I think they are more hype than reality. Think about it - if you wear this shirt you will NOT develop a sunburn on skin covered by the shirt. So really ALL solid fabric shirts are really 100% SPF. Just ask a farmer where he got his "Farmer's tan" - on his arms that were not covered by his shirt ...

Surprise! It has none and never will. It is for topical UVA & UVB limiting cosmetics. So here is the Deal.
UPF is the rating system for textiles. The shirt here is UPF 30 Solar factor per the label. This means that 1/30th of Rays are allowed through the fabric. UPF is Ultraviolet Protection Factor. Thus it goes as an inverse Math Function. It is determined by measurment of fabric or a scale of prior measurments.

I do not think it comes in longsleve because this a summer shirt for stream or lake fishing. I did not see it listed with this shirt. DAVE

They are there, what they're for is up to you, I suppose. I didn't use them myself.

For the price you can't beat this shirt with a rod. I had to return the large one and order a medium. This shirt has all the cool things a shirt should have and then some.
I'm getting four more while I can get them at this price.

Fishing Guide Shirt fills a need for outdoor Work

Can't beat the quality and price... I wear it to work on a farm and the Quick Dry/Wicking is awesome!!!! By the way on a rainy day it is quick wet... but dries fast.

Great value fishing shirt

Walmart used to carry the "All-American Fisherman" 100% nylon quick drying shirt for a simlar price which I would rate as EXCELLENT. I need to replace a couple of my "A-A F" shirts, so I tried the Spiderwire shirt in beige. The vent in the back is large and does a good job keeping you dry - though 100% polyester is not as cool as 100% nylon. For the price, this is an OK shirt - not nearly as good as the "All-American Fisherman", but much cheaper than Columbia brand shirts. I wish Walmart would bring back the "All-American Fisherman" - THAT is a GREAT shirt.
