Yes you can delete or keep any recordings. It holds alot of shows. You can name each show to watch for later or by default it numbers each recording. If you have used a VCR it is very similar to use.

Absolutley! I set my machine to record certain programs on a weekly basis. After watchinig one program, I simply delete it for the following week's program. If you don't delete your program, eventually the hard drive will fill up leaving no room for new programs.

Yes, you can easily delete recordings on the HDD just as you can delete a file on a computer hard drive. If you want to keep a recording for the long run you can just dub it to a DVD disk which simply means you record it from your HDD to a DVD then you can erase it from the HDD.

Yes. I have an antenna in the attic and use a booster before I split the signal and send it to several rooms. This unit has a digital tuner built in so it can take a raw antenna signal and generate the digital or analog TV channel signals. You do not need cable or a digital converter box with it.

I have used the previous versions of this DVR for several years.
The newest version has a larger storage capacity and finally allows me to Name the recordings when I set up the program. This makes identifying the recordings much easier when you go to play back. With the larger hard drive (320 GB vs 120 Gb) I am recording in higher quality and the picture is now excellent during playback and pause. I would consider the 1 TB hard drive in the future, but I am afraid I would record too much junk and never watch it.
I am very happy there is a DVR available without fee, for recording free, over the air, broadcasts. If they ever quit broadcasting over the air, this will also work with cable.

Larger Hard drive a big plus.

Easy to use as a VCR. I use mine with comcast cable (no cable box) record all my favorite shows. skips through ads. Lots of featuures and when I play DVD it plays 1080i sharp clear picture with suround sound I use a DMI cable (recomended) hooked to my home theater. Very pleased I don't pay a monthly fee to use this great recorder. I'm very happy and I purchased it with $100 discount and free shipping. It takes a little while to learn all the great features. I don't think you will be disapointed if you use the player/recorder the way I use it. I don't know how it works with a cable box or a reg. antenna, or satalite dish.

Great Deal

This product fully meets my expectations. It has so many functions, which I'm sure I'll be learning for sometime, yet it's intuitively easy to get started. It also has excellent picture instructions on the different methods of hooking it up & which one you should choose. I have two left hands when it comes to electronic devices, but had zero trouble this time.

I searched all the stores for a full year looking for a decent, price-competitive DVR with a digital tuner for optional hookup to an antenna. Nothing! I was pleased to finally learn about this Magnavox sold on-line.

This DVR comes with an instruction booklet, about 100 pages jammed with functions. The booklet is sectionalized & easy to understand. My only suggestion is that the booklet should be sub-divided into beginner, intermediate, & advanced to make it a little less intimidating. But this suggestion is no big thing. The booklet is so easy to understand.

The quality, sound, & picture are great. Today I enjoyed watching a Netflix movie on it while recording a TV program.

Great product wth optional digital tuner

This item works similar to a VHS machine, but as a DVR, for digital TV. If you do not want to pay monthly fees to record TV shows this is the perfect item. There is no loss in TV signal when it is hooked up, either when the machine is in the Standby or the On setting. I have been looking for a DVR to replace the function of a VHS for a while, and this is basically only one of maybe three choices on the market as far as I know. The other 1-2 did not get good reviews. This model comes in 320/500/1000 gb HDD options and I believe they all have the same function except for the storage capabilities.
