The capacity is not a guarantee on what size bag it will hold as it depends on the size of the kibble. I use this 40lb container to hold medium to small dog kibble and it holds 31lb without issue but if i try to use 40lb of the same size kibble I have to turn the container up (the pictured back becomes the bottom) making it unstackable. The reason is the bottom of the lid opening sits lower than the top and will spill out if filled to capacity. I also have the 60lb to hold large breed kibble and that barely holds 40lb in the stackable position. Additionally, the plastic can become soft enough to collapse under weight if stored in hot environments or the sun but it is strong enough if its going to be used in a controlled environment. The lid seal is water tight, easy to work on and off, and overall the container is worth it in my application.

I bough these for pet food and supplies. They are strong, weatherproof snd easier enough for my 9 year old to open and close. keeping the cat food dry and easily available has been a great convenience!
