APC SurgeArrest Personal - surge protector

My parents bought this for me years back. It sits flush against the wall and is perfect for those over sized plug-ins. Never figured that I would really ever need one, I am so glad I used it anyway. Had rewired a lamp for my apartment and when I plugged it into the wall, there was a loud pop and all electrical items plugged into the adapter went dead. I quickly unplugged everything from the wall then hesitantly plugged them into the wall one at a time and everything worked fine except the poor adapter.
