I have lived in my home for 49 years, has always owned a dog, never a cat. My sister-in-law has always fed a colony of cats for years, but I have never even seen a feral cat, until now. A few weeks ago, I noticed a black cat, with the most beautiful yellow eyes lurking around, but I never could see where she went after she jumped over my fence. One day I came home to two piles of bird feathers in my backyard. This affected me so much because I have always fed the birds %26 it dawned on me who was the culprit. I decided to put this cat food on my deck twice a day, %26 this beautiful black cat always knew %26 came twice a day to feed. Then I didn't see her for a few days %26 of course thought the worse, but to my surprise she brought over 5 adorable kittens and bedded them under my deck. That was almost 2 months ago, after the babies were weaned, they still eat this same food %26 appear to love it. Before I receive comments about feral cats being fed, I am in contact with an agency to have mama trapped %26 brought to a vet to be checked %26 spayed, along with her babies. The goal is to put the kittens up for adoption %26 bring mama back to me %26 being that she is only about 1 year old, she can adapt to be an indoor cat with me. If that doesn't work, I will have to let her go, but thankfully she won't have to bear any more babies.
