This review is for Ugly stick and spinning reel, this has a medium heavy rod that you realy need for large cat fish. Anything lighter and it would break the rod and strip the gears in the reel. It is the best combination you could. Works great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks Mike
