Norcold DC751SS; Single Compartment Refrigerator with Freexer; 2.7 Cubic Feet; Stainless Steel

This replaced a 20-year-old Norcold refrigerator in my old sprinter camping van that suddenly died. Honestly, I did not want a Norcold but this fit in the existing cutout. I have had it installed and running for three months and the outside temperature has fluctuated between 40 and 85. First it has more interior space than the older refrigerator and the layout was better and it operates on DC only. I have tried different cooling settings to see if I could find an optimum and even with an ambient temperature of 70 F, I still need to set the thermostat on 4.5 (5 is the coldest) for everything to stay cool and the frozen items to stay frozen (weird that the ice cream bars that I store on the right hand side of the ice box never really freeze). With increases in the thermostat the run time has increased and the compressor seems to have different run cycles increases in noise; it is not that noisy but strangely it is fairly noticeable when the outside ambient temperature is below 55F. Although I increased the thermostat seeting the power draw has stayed under 4 amps and the cycles have not increased. The door latch mechanism has held the door shut with sudden vehicle stops but I can open up the door without engaging the door latch and I am not too sure how long this will work without using a replacement or putting a pin in the unused hinge opening. The front 'stainless' door panel is magnetic, I truly doubt it is actually stainless steel. As for the interior parts, the door storage bins are the normal light grade plastic and do not seem like they will hold up 20 years with my normal use level but overall, this seems to be made well. Order/ Delivery was quick - my favorite Fedex driver put a hole in the box but it survived.
