Excellent tire in Wisconsin ice and snow, braking for deer

I was a little leery of getting winter tires this year, as there hasn't been as much snow and ice this year, more just dry cold salted roads that are extra slick. Winter tires are not supposed to be as good on dry pavement. But the one night I had to drive in blowing icy snow without winter tires I slid dangerously 3 times. I considered Blizzaks, but heard they did not wear very long. My Ford dealer suggested these, for wear and for function. Glad he did! These tires grip as solid as any in the winter; last night a deer ran out in front of me and I had to jam brakes on, and no skidding with these. Much better on the snow and ice than my usual All-Season's. I plan to buy a set for my son's car, too.

I have purchased the Firestone Winterforce tires In the past from Simple Tire. I live in the White Mountains of Northern New Hampshire and it can be argued that Northern New Hampshire winters as far as snow and cold are equivelent to Alaska winters and I would agree. Simple Tires customer service is top notch as well. The only reason I give this tire a 4star for road noise and tread life is because they are louder then all seasons and at about 1/2 to 1/4 tread they aren't as aggressive...to be expected. For anyone with Four wheel drive, all wheel drive or to be used on a heavier vehicle, I would definitely recommend these tires. For someone with a light car I would recommend the firestone winterforce tires but studded. I have found that the Weight of a vehicle makes a big difference with traction with all the winter tires I have used over the years.
