Our Stainless Steel Gunwale-Mounted Removable Ladder 4-Step for a secure and convenient removable boarding system. The mounting brackets for the gunwale ladders can be mounted with wood or sheet metal screws into fiberglass. It’s ideal if the section of fiberglass you’re installing in either 1) has a reinforcing material laminated into the fiberglass, or 2) it’s an area of solid material without core. Through bolting is always the strongest option if possible. A warning is that balsa wood or foam is commonly used for core, and once water get in between the layers of fiberglass the surrounding area can become soft. If your boat has core, we would recommend consulting with a local boat yard.
