Ode to the Haze Every once in a long while you discover something great enough to awaken your 7th grade level writing skills. Today I found that greatness, today I blur the lines between beer review and love letter. When one craft beer enthusiast says to another, “You’ve gotta try this beer I just got at Walmart”, it doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. I mean, how could it? Most of us aspire to rate beers that aren’t even available anymore or are in such a limited run that you’d be lucky to score a single 12oz can that was the result of poor package handling and destined for that one weird spot on the convenience store register counter; reserved for last chance items and leftover seasonal hostess items. It’s almost a safety net that keeps our opinions sacred and as close to fact as humanly possible. That’s where this tale takes a turn for the titular. Blurring the lines between craft and macro; Elysian has brought forth their newest and most impressive offering yet, Contact Haze. An IPA that truly breaks the mold with some seriously flavorful citrus and wild berry undertones balanced by curiously strong yet well rounded floral notes. Ok. Beer reviews are complicated and I give up, 9/10. Will buy again.
