I have used collagen peptides for about a year. I have tried several different brands. Some brands tend to be more expensive than others and that plays into factors that decide which brand is best for me. I started down the collagen path seeking support for my aging and osteoporatic bones. When I started this journey my research showed that I should use bovine sourced peptides. I started to see ads about a brand of collagen peptides with fortibone in it. After reading studies about fortibone I learned that this is the only peptide that both reverses bone loss, (osteoporosis) and helps build new bone. Fortibone is the only ingredient (in collagen peptides) I have researched that builds new bone. This leads me to Algaecal. For a while I only saw one product that had fortibone in it - that was Healthy Bone Co. I never pulled the trigger on the HBC because of the price. If it was a one time purchase ir a purchase on a whim, I would have. But taking collagen peptides is a commitment of time, energy and money. I kept researching and found the Algaecal. Comparing the two, I chise the Algaecal because it was a bit cheaper. I can get it from Walmart and although it is not covered by Medicare, I keep trying to get an exception... Algaecal is flavorless, I put it in my cup of tea every morning. It has become a habit and after about 4 months I cannot vouch for better bone density yet but I am hopeful. The setback I now see is another financial one as both Algaecal and Healthy Bone Co are now saying I need to be taking all of their other supplements as well as the collagen peptides...more money.
