The lids are basically flush when closed so don't overfill. They snap on tight and I didn't have any spills. They aren't extremely sturdy but definitely more than the typical aluminum pans you'd find in store. I stacked them 4 high in my fridge, full of meats and beans and they all held up great. I'll be buying them again.
