I’m a newbie, my son has a love for fishing, he has his own set up that I bought at a local fishing shop. Ive signed my son up to group fishing trips, it was really fun. I decided to get a set up for myself and to be honest, what caught my attention were were the colors and the cost. I knew nothing about fishing prior to buying this, I did a lot of self education on videos on YouTube, and forums etc. first thing I knew right off the bat was the line included is trash, I swapped it out with a Berkley Fluorocarbon line (learned that from online). It has such a smooth cast, I can say this set up is very beginner friendly, it has really brought me confidence in fishing. I’ve taken it out to lakes and most recently I’ve been using it for pier fishing, which my son and I do weekly. I used various rigs and finally found one that works best and I’ve caught a few fishes that were keepers and even caught a red rock crab on accident and that alone spiraled me to look into crab snare fishing which I’ve bought a whole different set up for that. I’ve had this combo for about 4 months now and I so love it! I’m thinking to getting another one as a backup as a “just in case” . But I can see this Combo lasting for a long time as long I maintain/service it. My son actually loves this Rod/Reel combo more than the one I bought him at the shop. so happy that’s I’ve purchase this.
