Great addition to PC speaker setup

I have this paired with the the MM-5R desktop speakers and it compliments them very well. It provides that little extra oomph at the low end to let the MM-5Rs handle the rest. More power than you need for most PC tasks and plenty left for when you really want to feel the sound.

Nice perfect, punchy inexpensive little sub

I wanted a small-footprint, powered subwoofer for my flight sim rig to provide LFE from the surround sound, and this is just perfect, it blends nicely with the Yamaha mains, and can easily provide the rumble of the jet engines in the "cockpit" without sounding like an earthquake. I would only caution purchasers if you are trying to fill a huge room, you will end up overdriving the subwoofer acoustically (I don't mean the amplifier, I mean you will make it sound boomy and unrealistic to make an 8" cone fill a large room) but in a small to medium sized space (perfect for a flight sim rig, this thing fills the space with a tight bass that adds that touch of realism). At normal volumes you don't get port chuffing (where the sub port sounds like heavy breathing) It's also small enough to tuck away without a problem. Setup is about as simple as it gets, plug in power, plug in RCA cable from LFE channel, play sound, adjust crossover and volume to sound good. enjoy! I found the volume at about 1/3 and crossover just above 40hz, sounded really nice and added a subtle rumble to sound (played the ride of the valkyrie scene from Apocalypse now and the explosions were tight and realistic). If you are looking for the monster Monolith sub the size of a filing cabinet that has the power of a tactical nuke, this is not that, but it's also 10% the price, and 5% the weight!

200 watts of thunder...

When I got this 8 inch 200 watt subwoofer from the "Monoprice" company, I could not wait to get this hooked up and experience the sound of thunder shaking the windows listening to the weather channel and waking the neighbors it measures 14 inches high by 10 and a half inches wide and 13 inches deep, with a removable front grill, some leave it off, but I elect to keep it on to protect the 8 inch cone speaker, there are instructions with this speaker that are easy to read and understand, and if you have any questions about this product you can easily contact customer service with all your questions but I don't think they help with installation but I'm sure they can get that information for you, there are many do's and don't in the "user's manual" of safety warnings and guidelines to follow to be successful in hooking this unit up right, set up is easy if you follow the instructions, the power cord comes with the unit and it has "safety fuse" just below the power cord input, just in case there is a power surge to protect the unit, it also features a auto "standby mode" after 22 minutes when there is no audio signal, but will power back on after audio signal is detected...folks just read the instructions and you will be hearing trains coming through, baseball bat cracked, homerun, and so did my hearing aid, there are 3 ways to install the wiring, there is a "low level" input, "LFE" input and a "high level" input so there should be no problems in getting this to work properly... as long as your stereo amp "has stereo outputs" then you can use this subwoofer, you can hear and feel the explosions, but it does require a speaker break in, so don't over do it, the cone has to "soften" because of the stiffness of the new cone to be able flex to it's full intended range, and to insure a long life of the cone, in other words: normal levels for a while, and then with each use of this unit, it will produce a deeper low sounding effects with no distortion, this is a great addition to my home theater and with this, 200 watt box of thunder, (100 watt RMS) you can't go wrong...and at this price it's well worth it...
