The BEST winter tires I've ever had!

I did a lot of research before I bought these. I learned that although they will wear out a little faster than others, they grip to ice and snow better than any. Do they ever! It's the end of January and I've had these on my SUV since November. I have not slipped even one time! Even when coming in a little hot to a red light in an icy intersection. I hate winter driving (a little scared of it in fact) but these tires have made me feel so safe compared to any others I've purchased, the fear and hate is gone! I don't care if they wear out a little faster, I'll keep buying these tires for as long as I live in I place where I have to!

Initial observations

I just installed my 215 70 R17 Blizzak DMV2, on our 17 Subaru Outback, in time for the first sizable lake effect snowfall. The conditions were; 28 degrees, unplowed roads with 4 inches of snow over ice. The combination of the all wheel drive and the Blizzaks gave you the feeling that you were driving on dry roads. While I was driving conservatively , I did try some emergency braking and moderate acceleration. Both the braking and acceleration results were impressive with no squirming on acceleration and modest amount of lateral movement on the emergency stop. The dry road ability seamed good, but it is hard to compare to my Dueller all season sport tires. This tire turned an already good performing all wheel drive car into a tank.

Continued Blizzak performance

I've had Blizzaks for winter driving on company vehicles for 15 years or so. I can always count on that reliable traction year after year. To say that they wear like others I cannot agree with however. What makes them so very good in the winter is they are pretty soft. They seem to wear faster than many other winter tires but that's what makes them so incredible. I'll give up a little extra wear for confidence when driving myself and my family in "dicey" winter conditions.
