Use with the hartz pet nursing bottle. Orphan Kitten Care Tips. Never hold a kitten on its back when nursing. Rest the kitten on its stomach and hold the bottle at a 45 degrees angle from above while feeding. Sterilize the bottle and nipples before and between uses. Keep kitten warm and stimulate to go to the bathroom by gently rubbing its genitalia with a cottonball moistened with water (preferably before and after feedings). This is essential for its survival. When nursing, kittens should be weighed daily to make certain they are growing properly and to help gauge proper feeding portions. If the kitten develops diarrhea, cries constantly, fads to gain weight or becomes lethargic, consult your veterinarian. Feeding Directions: If possible, the newborn kitten should nurse on the mother for at least 2 days. The mother's first milk includes colostrum, which provides extra nutrition aid short-term protection against some diseases. Hartz Kitten Milk replacer can be fed to orphaned, small, or weak kittens from birth to 6 weeks old. Directions for Preparation and Use: Mix 1 part powder with 2 parts room temperature water and blend until lumps have dissolved completely. Weaning: At 5-6 weeks old, you can begin wean the kitten. Coax your kitten to lap the milk replacer from a shallow saucer by letting it lick formula from your finger. Once the kitten begins lapping on its own, mix solid kitten food with warm milk replacer and allow solid food to soften to a gruel. Thicken the gruel slightly each day by adding less milk replacer until the kitten is eating solid food. 1 jar. 131 teaspoons of powder. Feeding Directions: If possible, the newborn kitten should nurse on the mother for at least 2 days. Hartz Kitten Milk Replacer mixes smooth
This Hartz Powdered Kitten Milk Replacer saved a baby cotton tail rabbit. I used this along with Meyenburg goat milk powder. It is sufficient to help with the growth and development during the formative first weeks of life. It contains an optimal balance of vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients. There's sufficient info on the product and web as to how to feed them, I also added digestive enzymes to this formula but do your research so you can do it right. This KMR helped a lifeless little cottontail rabbit become a Feisty little rabbit. I weighed it and watched it gain weight and grow and was glad I got a product that worked. It was easy to wean off and transition to solid food. I highly recommend Hartz Kitten Milk Replacer.
