Superior radishes

I usually try to buy the radishes that still have the greens connected to them, but I have been getting lousy batches the last several times. I was very concerned these would be lousy, since they are cleaned up and in a plastic bag. It turns out these have been perfect! Big, fresh, spicy hot. Very nice along with the baby carrots for a snack or side to my meal.

I have bought several bags of the pre cleaned radishes in a reclosable plastic bag. I leave the bag slightly opened and I always insert a damp paper towel inside with the radishes it helps to keep them fresh. I may not always use them up while they're still nice and fresh looking and tasting. but before they get to the point where I would want to toss them I find a way to pickle them even if there's just three or four left. they are better than the ones that come with their tops on them are just as good I should say.

These keep a long time in the frig. I am one of those people that may be growing a science experiment in my frig, but I've never had my bagged whole radishes go moldy or get slimey. I slice them and cook them in butter as a side dish. Or dice for soups and stews. Actually, they went in whole in my last stew. In the past I have diced up radishes for salads, even tuna salad. I never peel them, so they will be red. I'd make what I called my Christmas tuna salad using pickles and radishes.
