great product

When you open the can it doesn't even smell like cat food, and it looks good enough to eat. But ther real endorsement is Chrystal who is 12 year old and I could never get her to eat any can food, inculding other very expensive brands. She would always get something and cover it up and try to bury it. The first time I opened a can of this, she actually smelled it and came over, when I put it in a dish for her, she to my amazement ate all of it and licked the plate clean. I am now able to go give her canned food regularly. Thank you so much for such a good food and for using local products and keeping control of the whole process, it shows in the end product.

Cats love this food, but quality control concerns

My cat eats Merrick's poultry variety pack: chicken, turkey, and duck. Out of the three, the turkey is always drier for some reason, but the cat eats all three with about the same enthusiasm. Recently, however, I purchased a variety pack in which one of the turkey cans had spoiled--gas had built up in the can, and it had a horrible smell and runny brown liquid when opened. I've read other reviews on this site where cans from other lines had a similar problem. Not sure what the issue is, but I hope Merrick is addressing it quickly. This food works well for us, and I'd prefer not to have to switch to another brand.

carrageenan, why?

my cats love this but the carrageenan is an issue for me. hopefully Merrick will eliminate this potentially harmful (there is plenty of scientific evidence leaning toward it brim carcinogenic so please, no claims of safety) and we can go back to feeding this.
