This works fantastic. I dont live in earthquake area, but this works great for items you dont want to be bumped and fall and break. I had a beautiful vase that can not be replaced, bumped and broken. So I did not want that to happen again. It has been holding the new vase with no problem. It also has another use! I have a modern arrangement of unusual shapes that get knocked and all fall out of the metal mesh like oval item they go in. I was tired of rearranging. So I started from scratch and put items in with the quake hold and it has been bumped but all are staying in place. So you dont have to use this item for quake zone- it has other uses as well.
