This was my first time trying Star Anise. It has a very specific, unique scent and taste found in no other food. If must be compared, it could be on the similar end of cinnamon and the likes, but not at all like cinnamon. I got these for their nutritional values. I made tea using 1 star (because it's already so strong) plus some cinnamon powder, and it was delicious and calming. I also read that you can make Vietnamese food with this. One day, I'll try that.
