Oster Designer BLSTAS-Z00-000 Table Top Blender

We just bought this blender yesterday so the following are my initial thoughts. The key for a blender is how long it lasts so will review again in six months. Blender is well-engineered. The coupling between the bottom of the jar and the blender base is metal to metal. So many others have rubber interfaces which are designed to fail in short order. We crushed ice as directed for thirty seconds. The power and torque of the motor is obvious. It made short work of crushing the ice. Then we mixed in several types of fruit. It easily blended the fruit and the ice producing a nice smoothie. The jar is heavy duty glass which helps to prevent scratches and freezing so common on plastic jars. The jar contents pour easily into a glass with no leakage. The top is snug and well-designed. The other negative I see is that the base is plastic although it appears to be chrome. I had expected a heavier base. A heavy base is better able to handle the torque of a heavy duty motor like the Oster so will keep an eye on it to see how it performs over time. In summary, it is a well-designed blender and has design features which should ensure a long life. I highly recommend.
