Nishiki Medium Grain Rice, 5 lb Bag Kosher Certified

Making Onigiri that squishable snackable world renown icon is my new crafting hobby. So getting a good deal on solid quality was a sweet surprise. With a nice frosted polish, pearly white, mild aroma, texture cooked is amazing, perfect bite to soft ratio, cleans easily in a normal 3-4 rinse, shipped in moisture maintainence packaging, and packed well in excellent condition. A few more broken kernels than the best but not enough to affect cooking. It's not the same translucency as the stuff pristinely packed in a hard plastic container at $18 plus dollars / 5 pounds but I have no reason to need or want that. The starch level that gives it it's texture means there will be some sticking at the bottom. Use your favourite way to deal with that. Me? I just make Miso soup right away or add toasted sesame seeds to make that flavour work for me. Once cooked it stores well, if done properly, for several days in the fridge. Or longer in the freezer. Follow food safety recommendations for cooling, storing, reheating and eating. As delightful in my bento, a Nori wrap, a snack, or as a desert. Definitely a new favorite. I am from Japan, so I am very picky about rice. But it is difficult to buy rice at a reasonable price in a convenient way in the USA. But I found a solution here. This Nishiki Rice is great for the value. Close enough to home. It does not stay as moist as home-grown ones the next day though. But you just need to add a little water and warm it up in the microwave. (I hope it will help.)
