The handles are a solid wood that is both painted and coated so there's no funky texture. The spatula heads themselves are high-quality rubber and well attached to the handle. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I am cooking or baking and the spatula head flies off in the middle of a recipe. Dot that definitely won't happen with these and spoonula two piece set. By no means am I a Disney adult, but I know quality when I see it. Disney put a lot of thought and effort into this cookware line and I'm very pleased. These are a great addition to any kitchen, and a welcome addition to ours!
