Amazing, but had a rough start

A bit let down at first, the picture quality was terrible compared to my 5yr old 4K Sony TV. But I tried many picture options. In the end I turned off Intelligent Mode in Settings > All Settings > General and Privacy > Intelligent Mode Settings, this made a massive difference to the picture no more grain or banding and extreme colors. For Samsung support i would suggest this is the first thing to check for anyone complaining about the picture. I can now say the picture and sound (via Sonos Playbar) is amazing. Samsung just need to sort the Intelligent Mode as it ruins the picture

Thank you for taking the time to share with us this review about your experience with the 65" QN800B, Johnny. We are pleased to see that you can now make the most of the incredible picture quality of this TV, enhancing everything you love to full 8K and HDR crystal clear quality. Intelligent Mode is an innovative feature that allows your TV to scan the environment to determine how large your room is, how much light there is and what you're watching to give you the best results. We appreciate that you preferred to disable this feature though, to suit your needs and preferences. From our end, we will certainly make sure to take your feedback on board so we can use it to improve our service as well as our future products. ^CL at Samsung Support

Great TV, (not without some caveats though)

I got this TV just a few days ago as a replacement for broken down Panasonic. The design absolutely brilliant, only 1 cable to the screen, well done Samsung, also connecting to all other systems becomes much easier !!! One small wish - if Samsung would make the processing box of a standard unit size with flat top and small legs putting it on top of other devices would be so much easier. I love the colours and brightness, but default Picture settings are not great, so much noise filtering making it look awkward, I personally prefer to see some noise than moving blobs, that remained after filtering. I still have a feeling that motion on this TV is not smooth compared to my old 4K. TV, I will miss 3D as well. Blacks in some videos looks a bit purple, this is not great, the issue is with videos, but better control of black saturation would help. Video player has some issues with interlaced videos, it will not upscale the frame rate, so 50i would play like 25fps, this is disappointing... I'll have to keep my appelTV to do this properly. Samsung, some people keep their old recordings, and they are not always 4k or 1080p, sometimes they are 480i50... On ergonomics - it is not very easy to navigate to HMI ports or DLNA share through the menu, on such a big screen all available inputs could easily fit at once. I had some concerns about missing DolbyVision, but apparently it is not doing much, I looked at some programs and movies I watched on my previous TV and have not seen much of a difference. Some people here complain about low-res content upscaling and sharpening, I think I absolutely love what I see. What's the point to sharpen 720p image to 8k ? each pixel will be blown to 10x10, you will perfectly see each and every pixel, and there is simply no details in such videos ! I like that sharpening does not produce white haloes or ringing artefacts. Looking at my photos on this screen is absolute delight, they look perfect, 24 and 33MP images from DSLR looks fantastic, and the Photo app is great. Great product overall.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us this comprehensive review about your experience with the 65" QN800B, Ilya! We are pleased to see that you are finding the sleek and smooth design of this TV brilliant, and that you are already making the most of the attachable One Connect cable to minimise the mess and upgrade your set-up. We also appreciate that you like the colour and brightness but are not too happy with its default Picture Settings. We are happy to confirm that this TV will enhance everything you love watching to 4K and HDR quality, although the final rendering will vary depending on the original source as the TV can enhance the resolution, but not add details that were not present originally. The original source will also affect solid colours like black as well as content played on the Video Player. For this, we recommend changing the Picture Settings of the TV to suit your needs: https://bit.ly/HowToUsePictureSettings We also appreciate that you would have preferred the interface to allow you to navigate between connections more easily. This is something we can certainly pass on to our engineers, so we can use this feedback to improve the future software updates for our TVs. In the meantime, we are confident this fantastic TV will give you endless moments of satisfaction for the future to come! ^CL at Samsung Support
