Lemi Shine Washing Machine Cleaner Single Use

I was given this product in exchange for an honest review. I wanted to use it on the washing machine that we had in storage for the past year. After pulling the machine out of storage, I saw that I was going to have my work cut out for me. Our old machine had broken and we had a HE toploader machine in storage. Not only did it have a mildew smell, some water had gotten into the tub, bugs had inhabited the washer, and my brother-in-law had used the washer as a support to cut wood. (Please refer to pictures) I've used Lemi Shine products before and have always been pleased with the results. In all honesty, I was super excited as well as my better half to see what was going to be the outcome. I started with the wipes and scrubbed the exterior of the washer. It only took 1 wipe, they are extra large, so there was not any concern of it being not enough of the product to use. Also, the wipe was extra wet, which I did appreciate. There is nothing worse than opening a wet wipe and not enough wetness to do what you need. First thing I did notice after opening the wipe package was the smell. The scent of lemon was very noticeable. Using the wipe on the black marks did take some elbow grease and I used the wipe in conjunction with a magic eraser. The wipe did get a great deal of the marks off, but since there was some scratches, the magic eraser was needed. I didn't use anything extra to clean the exterior. After about 20 min. of scrubbing, the machine shined like a new penny. After hooking the washer up, I dumped 1 package of the Lemi Shine Machine Cleaner into the tub as directed per the box. I was hesitant thinking that I might need 2 packages, but I followed the directions and only used 1. I did turn on washer on the machine cleaning cycle, used hot water and let it run a cycle. Since the machine has a glass top, I watched all kinds of gunk start to float in the water. Also, we have hard water and you could see the water become a little cloudy from the buildup breaking down. Once the cycle finished, I used another wipe and cleaned the interior of the tub, the rubber ring around the top of the tub, as well as the inside part of the machine. You could smell the lemon in the tub, which in all honesty didn't give me much of an idea of how the clothing would smell after our first load of clothes. I tossed in a load of whites, used my normal laundry soap, fabric softner and a little bleach. I knew how pungent the mildew odor was in the machine prior to usage, but I was really concerned if the clothes would come out smelling like mildew after washing. Once the load finished, I noticed upon opening the lid, that the clothes didn't have any mildew odor. Sometimes using a product can mask the odor. This wasn't the case with the Lemi Shine Machine Cleaner. I've done 5 loads of laundry and there is no "funky" odor to our clothing. The machine, itself doesn't smell of mildew anymore either. Even after drying the clothing, our clothes smell better than they have in a long time. I do love the Lemi Shine products. I've been using them for years now. I love how their products only contain natural citric extracts, citrus oils and sodium bicarbonate. There is no harsh smells. They are gentle on your hands, so there is no needs to wear gloves. Their products are non-toxic, biodegradable, and phosphate free. There is no artificial fillers or dyes. One biggie for me is their products are septic system friendly. I have an extremely sensitive nose and can detect odors that others may not, especially since my boyfriend is a smoker. Even prior to using the Lemi Shine Washing Machine Cleaner, I had stuck my head inside the washier and smelled the tub, this way I had an idea of how bad/or good the product would work. After cleaning the machine inside and out, I did the smell test again. It has no detectable odor of mildew. There is no visible signs of mold. Even after washing several load of clothing, I wasn't able to pick up any musty smells. I will be making use of the Lemi Shine Washing Machine Cleaner in my cleaning supply. I'm not sure how often I will be needing to actually use this, but I am guessing I will be cleaning my washer with this every month if not every other month. Just depends on the amount of soiled items I end up washing and how the washer smells. I can't believe that it did such an amazing job on that nasty washer. There was no tearing it apart and doing a deep cleaning. It was just as simple opening of a package, dumping it in, turning on the washer, letting it do it's job and BAM! It was cleaned. I just wish I was able to let you smell the inside of the washer. I was being made fun of for sticking my head inside the washer and smelling the inside.

I hate when the things you use to clean aren't clean dusty or musty. Ew. I ran my washer with one packet of the cleaner and no gunk came out but it's probably because my washer is fairly new. But it sure smells super clean and looks sparkly inside. The box also comes with wipes i used on the inside top of the drum and the outside, so everything is squeaky clean!
