Best bridge camera around
Comparing this to a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 mk1. The Sony has a better zoom. I would say the image quality is about the same as the Lumix, they both have 1 inch sensors. Same low light performance. But where the Sony really blows the Lumix out of the water is the focusing system. Sony's phase detect focuses very quickly and the human and animal eye detect are game changing.

I bought this same camera about a year ago, but due to either sand on a raft trip or rain it stopped working. I immediately ordered the same camera again. I like that I have a 600mm lens that does well when taking small or close ups as well as helping me get nice feather detail on birds. All without changing the lens. I also appreciate that when extended it is about the size of my Nikon with a 300mm lens. For most things I'm able to handhold the camera even when extended. Still learning about the many features, but would definitely recommend the Sony RX 10.
