I read the reviews and thought I'd my two cents as I have this little pot. It can be used for many items, not just butter. Also, it is cast iron so it can be used inside the oven and on the outside grill. Also, you don't have to sit it on the stove top burner. All you need to do, is get it hot. Place it in the oven until it's super hot, take it out, then place your butter and it will melt. You can use this item for sauces and even foods such as onions, peppers, garlic, etc. Do you have the small little 8 or 10 inch skillet? If so, you can also sit this item inside a skillet within your oven or on the grill. Remember, if it doesn't fit on your range top burner, just stick in a hot oven for a few minutes, then use it.

I bake a lot of bread, and like to brush on melted butter once the loaves, rolls, or buns cool off. This little pot is by far the best method for me. It sits perfectly on the back burner of my electric range. I turn the range control knob to the number 2, that's all it takes. No more splattering butter in the microwave for me.
