I like this product
To me, the secret to using this product is to realize there is a separate path for 3/8" tape. Before I did, the letters wandered all over the tape. The instructions might have done a better job pointing out the small channel for small tape. I am only disappointed that this product is being phased out. I cannot find other embossing wheels like I used to (Special characters, vertical letters, etc.) One other reviewer pointed out this product was plastic. Well, they were plastic 45+ years ago when I got my first one, and just as "flimsy" back then. Sure, a metal one would be great, and I would probably opt to may for one of higher quality, but for the $, the 1540 works acceptably. Just get to know the product and note the issue about properly loading 3/8" tape.

Works very well
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Office Mate embossing label-maker is awesome for neat-freaks who want to create old-timey labels and tags. I use them for everything from vinyl record dividers, to labeling inputs on an audio mixing board (I stick the label to magnetic tape so they can be moved around on the metal mixer). I also use these to label my manilla folders for invoices for customers and just regular bills. So far it has worked great with no issues, it is easy to load and makes a great label.
