This turning peel wasn't what I expected, but it was a good purchase. I thought it was a retractable item. It wasn't. You screw three poles together. If you want to make it shorter, you take the middle portion out., which is manual, not retractable. It didn't say retractable in the description, that was my assumption. The moveable hand grip is a waste of plastic. Why have a plastic grip that moves around without reason on a metal turner that could be entering a 900 degree oven. That doesn't make sense. I just took it off and didn't use it. Other than my assumption, and the plastic handle, it was a great tool. It was lightweight yet sturdy. It made turning our pizzas (89 of them in an hour and a half) easier. It cleaned up well, disassembles quickly and it was compact to store.

I love everything about this pizza peel. It is nicely made, comfortable to use, easy to clean, and easy to store. This works really well if the pizza is about the same size as the turning peel but it will work on larger pizzas as well. When a pizza gets cooked in an 800-degree pizza oven, you have to turn it quickly. It only takes a few seconds to master the technique of turning the pizza in the oven and this tool is perfect in width and length for achieving that task. I only write reviews when I believe a product is truly exceptional or a total failure and this product falls into that exceptional category. This was also a gift!
