The plastic is of good, durable quality, but the design is lacking. The open/close feature isn't of equal quality: The door does not swing easily, and as cat owners know, most cats can't be bothered with any resistance. I found that the template was too small, so I made the opening a quarter of an inch bigger before the unit fit without any bends or too loosely. Otherwise, the unit is a nice size for adult cats and it has a nice look.
