Definitely filled some very shady patchy areas!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our back yard is largely shaded by large leafy canopies. Much of the yard rarely sees an ounce of sunshine. We've tried grass seed in the past but I chalked up the lack of success to one of two things. It was either too shady or it was user error. It was probably a combination of both. Our experience with this One Step Dense Shade mix was pretty great! We cleaned up the areas that we were targeting by raking up other lawn debris and loosening up the soil. It has been raining and the ground was moist. After spreading out the seed, I followed up with a good saturation. It's hard to mess it up as the mulch in the mix changes color when its watered sufficiently. I had a patch in the sun that needed more consistent watering because it dried more quickly. I fell down on that job and it didn't grow. This just drives home the point that regular watering really is a critical step in the success of this grass growth. The shady areas that I watered twice daily (mostly) did quite well. A few spots were more dense than others. What I know is that I will absolutely use this again in the spring! It's as close to fool-proof as one can get.

Good product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The mix of seed, mulch, and fertilizer made it really easy to apply-just spread it over the bare spots and water. Within about two weeks, I noticed new grass starting to fill in, even in areas that never get much sunlight. It does require consistent watering to see the best results, but overall it's a simple, effective product for repairing shady patches in the lawn.

A seed mix that yields results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Pennington One Step Dense Shade Patch & Repair Grass Seed Mix for free in exchange for my review. I'm very satisfied with this seed mix. It has done a great job at restoring the sparse areas of our lawn. It does require watering like other seed mixes. We used this mix near a tree lined area that gets lots of shade. In the past, we have tried seed mixes and not been successful. But within just a few weeks, we saw growth. We have seen approximately 30% regrowth and plan to continue the treatment of this area with more mix in a few months with ideal weather conditions to fully restore the area. Overall, I would recommend this seed mixes for shaded areas.
