Great concept, but needs work

I went looking for a bike lock for my son's bike so he could lock it down while at school. I found this one and thought that for a kindergartener, this would be good. We found a light neon green color which was perfect to match his bike. However, as recommended per instructions, I tried to change the factory setting lock. I could not get the end piece to rotate with my hands and tried a pair of pliers to grip it so I could twist it into the proper positioning. This definitely easily scratched up the plastic cover on the end. I never could get it to line up properly to change the default word. When I gave up on that and tried to put it into its usable state, I found that the inner piece at the end must have been made from aluminum or other soft metal as I had barely squeezed it and could not get the other end of the cable to insert back into the lock. I ended up grabbing a flat tipped screw driver to force it apart to reinsert and lock it again. It will work for our needs. I'm not terribly worried about theft in our area, but I did need something to deter the local kids from playing pranks or relocating his bike.

ok for occasional use

The letters are a little stiff to turn and once you have it to where it can be opened, you have to pull somewhat hard and twist and jiggle it to remove the pin from the shaft. I sprayed some penetrating oil in the shaft and that improved it, but only a little. It's ok for me since I don't use the bike often, but would become annoying quickly otherwise.
