This is my second purchase of Firman generators

I actually have two cabins and both have this generator providing all of the electrical needs. The first I actually purchased because of the remote start and the price last year. The second was given to me as a gift this year because of the positive things I said about the first Firman generator. The set up was easy. I would love if the unit had a 220-240 volt outlet, but I am happy with the purchase. It starts quickly, and although it is noisy compared with a Honda -- the price is a fraction of what you would have spent. I am also happy with the fuel consumption. I don't have to continually put fuel in the generator when it is running most of the day. Even though there are a few things I would modify about the generator, it is a 5 star based on value and price.

Backup generator for storms

We live in a Hurricane area (SW Florida) Our home is next to a High School which is designated as a Primary Emergency Location, so it is a priority location to the power grid when electrical services are lost and brought back up. Our home is on that grid. So, in the past 10 years when power has gone out due to a hurricane, (3 times), our power has been restored withing 3-5 days. So we feel we only need a generator to maintain power to our refrigerator/freezer so our food source is protected.. So far so good!

I feel more prepared for emergency preparedness now.

My main reason for purchasing this generator is for emergency power. For earthquakes, the big one hasn't hit yet, but they say it's coming. In Southern California, we are subject to power shut downs during high winds and brush fires and it's a comfort being able to keep the fridge, TV, and lights going. An unplanned benefit it being able to take power to remote work areas.
