I connected the HDMI cable to the back of my Samsung SMART TV and then to the laptop. Make sure you select the TV's HDMI port and not the HDMI/DVI port otherwise the TV's speakers will not work.

I use this HDMI cord almost everyday to watch movies or learn dance movies from Youtube. I plan on using it when I go back to college as well. It has great value for the price and is probably the best deal if you compare the lengths and prices of the other cords. 10 feet generally isn't too long as I would expect but it's still perfect. My friends ask me to borrow it all the time. I heard that you can also connect it to a tv when your laptop screen is broken and everything will still project on the tv screen although your laptop screen is broken. I haven't tried that yet because my laptop screen isn't broken but I believe it will work. Belkin products are usually awesome.
