Setup is horrible if the device is already plugged in prior to attempting to add the device via the app. The troubleshooting suggests factory resetting the plug, restarting your phone/modem, and other steps that did not help. I finally unplugged the device and then launched the app, only plugging in the plug when it asked for the status of the lights; that time (probably my 15th attempt) the device finally connected without issue. You now have to have location services enabled in order to use the app, and I have not tried to turn the plug on via the app while away from home, so that functionality is still untested. I have other Wemo devices that were not this difficult to add, however, those were added long ago via an older version of the app.

Unstable. I have dozens of Wemo products in my home--I was an early adopter when they first started coming out with these smart home devices. I love them so much but every few weeks they all decide to just disconnect or stop working from the Wemo app (and sometimes also in Alexa). I end up having to reset the devices to get them to reconnect to my very solid Ubiquiti wireless network, but it's time consuming and frustrating and a couple of my devices are in hard-to-reach places making it that much more of a hassle.
