This item is great for hearing. It replaces my hearing aid, although it's not as loud. It has a volume control,as well as bass and treble controls as well. I'm tone deaf, which means I can hear bass better than treble, so I can now turn the bass up all the way with the Pockettalker. You cab use headphones, earbuds, etc. You also have a microphone with a cord, so you can put it close to the tv or stereo to hear music and tv. It works great for watching movies.
