Great for all plant types, this natural nutrient supplement provides primary nutrients for vegetables, flowers, roses and shrubs. When used with roses, it promotes strong canes and blooming. This gardening product can also be used to help revive compost piles. Refer to the measurement chart on the label for how much to apply to vegetables, annual flowers, roses, shrubs, perennials, and compost piles. When using with new plantings, work plant food into the garden bed at a depth of 4 to 6 inches by digging or tilling. For larger plants and shrubs, mix plant food into soil around the root ball. For established plants, carefully work the plant food in the soil around the plants, avoiding piling against the stem or trunk. In compost piles, add alfalfa meal to the "green" or nitrogen layers of the compost pile. Keep the pile moist for fastest results.
